Sprint 4G Comes To Kansas City

The Sprint 4G phone network will be running in Kansas City by “early summer”.

CEO of Sprint, Dan Hesse, announced the launch date at Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s 2010 Economic Forecast Mid-Year event this week.

Sprint 4G is expected to launch in Kansas City around the same time the new Sprint HTC EVO 4G phone goes on sale.

4G on New Mexico Trains

The New Mexico Department of Transportation RailRunner Train System is getting its own 4G phone network. The RailRunner high speed train service takes New Mexico commuters between Belen and Santa Fe via Albuquerque and Bernalillo. A free public 4G network will soon be available along the entire 95 mile, 15 station route.

The rail 4G phone network will be supplied by a series of 22 WiMAX base stations along the route. Passengers on trains and at stations will connect to the 4G network via a public WiFi network.

The network can be accessed at train speeds of up to 90 miles an hour with speeds of 6Mbps download / 4Mbps upload.

4G Houston Is Live

The Sprint 4G phone network is continuing its expansion and is now available in Houston, Texas.

Until Sprint 4G phones are available users can hook up to the new network by using a 4G modem / data card. Sprint wireless cards are free (after a rebate) with the $59 monthly mobile phone plan.

Other 4G phone networks are expected to launch in Houston soon.

Sprint 4G Network Coverage Increased

The Sprint 4G phone network will soon be available in several additional market in the US, including Los Angeles and Miami.

Other new cities that will get the Sprint 4G network are Cincinnati, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and St. Louis. Those markets are in addition to the previously announced cities of Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington D.C.

Sprint is also promising a wider range of 4G phones, modems and other devices in the coming year.

New Cities in Clear 4G Network Coverage

Clear 4G will be launching in more cities than expected this year. Currently, Clear 4G is available in 27 markets across the United States. Previously announced new 4G coverage areas launching this year include New York City, Houston, Boston, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, Denver, Minneapolis and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Now Clear 4G has added several new cities to the list: Los Angeles, Miami, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City.

All these new 4G coverage areas are due to be launched by the end of the year. The next scheduled 4G launch with be Houston in the next few weeks.

Time Warner Launches 4G in Austin, Texas

Time Warner Cable now offers its “five times faster than 3G” 4G phone network in Austin, Texas.

The company says download speeds are comparable to its home broadband service Road Runner High Speed. The new 4G service costs $29.99.

Time Warner 4G is also available in Dallas, San Antonio, Wichita Falls, Corpus Christi and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sprint 4G Coverage – Another 8 Cities

Sprint 4G is extending its 4G network. Currently available in a few selected cities across the US, Sprint has now confirmed that 4G phone services will be coming this year to Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

Sprint has also strongly hinted that there will be additional 4G cities announced as the year progresses.

Canada 4G in Vancouver

The first 4G phone network in Canada will launch in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Craig Wireless says the Vancouver 4G network will start as a data only service but that it expects to be selling 4G phones by the end of the year.

The Canada network will be extended to Winnipeg later this year – along with increased coverage throughout Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the interior of British Columbia.
