Clear iSpot – 4G Router for iPod & iPad
Clear have launched an unusual router for their 4G phone network.
Called the Clear iSpot it’s a router designed to work only with Apple WiFi enabled devices – specifically the iPod and iPad. That means if you’re within the Clear 4G network coverage you can share that super speedy mobile internet connection with your Apple devices.
The Clear iSpot is now on sale for $24.95 with no contract. The only other cost is the normal Clear 4G data plan.
New 4G Mobile Hotspot from Time Warner Cable
Time Warner Cable has teamed up with Sierra Wireless to launch IntelliGo, a 4G WiFi mobile hotspot for use with its Road Runner Mobile service.
IntelliGo allows any device with WiFi connectivity to connect to Time Warner Cable’s 4G phone network. The mobile hotspot can be used by up to five devices simultaneously at download speeds of up 6 Mbps.
Road Runner Mobile is currently available in 17 markets with a 4G service due to launch this year in New York, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Nexaira – NexConnect 3G / 4G SOHO Router
Nexaira Wireless have just announced a brand new 4G router. Due for launch next month, the NexConnect 3G / 4G router will work with any mobile phone carrier in North America and comes with an automatic fallback option for use in areas where there is still no 4G network coverage.
According to Nexaira, AT&T, T-Mobile, Bell, Rogers, Telus, Sprint, Clear and Verizon phone networks will all work fine with the new NexConnect 3G / 4G SOHO Router.
Netgear 4G Routers Coming in March & April
Netgear have announced two new 4G routers for hooking up mobile broadband through a 4G phone service.
The two routers – the Mobile Broadband Wireless-N Router (MBRN3000) and the Wireless-N 300 Router with DSL Modem Mobile Broadband Edition (DGN2200M) – both need an external modem connected to provide the 4G wireless connection. After that, both can be used to create a mobile 4G WiFi spot.
The Netgear DGN2200M will be available worldwide from April for $179 and the MBRN3000 from March for $149.
Sprint 4G Overdrive 4G Router – Now Available
As predicted earlier in the week by 4G Phones :-) Sprint has confirmed the release of its new Overdrive Mobile Hotspot 4G router.
The new device connects to the Sprint 4G WiMAX service and can network the mobile internet connection to five other devices. The Sprint Overdrive 4G router costs $100 after a $50 mail rebate and is available for $60 monthly.
New 4G Routers from Cradlepoint
CradlePoint Technology is to show off two new 4G routers at CES in Las Vegas. One is a 4G personal hotspot for mobile workers that supports 3G modems, 802.11n Wi-Fi and up to 16 devices – allowing phone users to share their 4G WiMAX connection.
The other will be a home / office version of the 4G router designed to increase 4G coverage inside buildings. Technical specs for the two devices will be similar.
Cradlepoint have also announced a new a wireless broadband adapter , the CBA750. The broadband adapter supports 3 / 4G USB modems and can use existing CAT5 cabling to provide 4G wireless broadband throughout a business.
New 4G Router from Sprint
Rumors continue to suggest that Sprint will announce a new pocket-sized 4G router from Sierra Wireless in the next couple of days.
The router will turn 4G and 3G phone signals into a local wireless network, allowing up to 6 Mbps download speeds for a maximum of 5 phones / devices.
The new 4G router is thought to be the big announcement from Sprint at the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas.
