Time Warner Launches 4G in Austin, Texas
Time Warner Cable now offers its “five times faster than 3G” 4G phone network in Austin, Texas.
The company says download speeds are comparable to its home broadband service Road Runner High Speed. The new 4G service costs $29.99.
Time Warner 4G is also available in Dallas, San Antonio, Wichita Falls, Corpus Christi and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Sprint 4G Coverage – Another 8 Cities
Sprint 4G is extending its 4G network. Currently available in a few selected cities across the US, Sprint has now confirmed that 4G phone services will be coming this year to Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
Sprint has also strongly hinted that there will be addition 4G cities announced as the year progresses.
Canada 4G in Vancouver
The first 4G phone network in Canada will launch in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Craig Wireless says the Vancouver 4G network will start as a data only service but that it expects to be selling 4G phones by the end of the year.
The Canada network will be extended to Winnipeg later this year – along with increased coverage throughout Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the interior of British Columbia.
4G Road Runner in Maui
The 4G Road Runner Mobile network from Time Warner Cable is now up and running in Maui.
Road Runner Mobile is intended as a complimentary service to Road Runner High Speed Online and includes a full security suite, email, data storage for $34.95 per month for Time Warner Cable Triple Play customers.
Time Warner claims a download speed of 6Mbps for the new 4G phone network.
Sweden 4G Extended
TeliaSonera, the 4G phone mobile provider in Sweden and Norway, has set a target to increase 4G coverage in those countries to a further 25 areas in Sweden and another 4 in Norway.
The company already offers 4G in Stockholm and the Norway capital, Oslo. The rollout will happen during 2010. The mobile operator also has a 4G license for Finland.
Spain 4G from Clearwire
Clearwire is launching a 4G phone service for Malaga in Spain.
The mobile phone company says it will be the first 4G city network in Spain, providing 4G to nearly 600,000 phone users in Malaga. A similar service will also be setup for Seville. The network will start later this year.
First 4G Network Launched
Scandinavian mobile phone operator, TeliaSonera, has launched the world’s first commercial 4G phone network based on LTE technology.
The new 4G phone service is available now to customers in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. TeliaSonera says it’ll start rolling out the service to other major cities in Sweden and Norway soon.
The mobile operator also has a 4G license for Finland.
4G Seattle From Comcast
Comcast is now offering its 4G mobile wireless service High-Speed 2go to phone customers in Seattle and the surrounding area. The service is bundled with Comcasts web, phone and television plans.
Customers can choose from two 4G data cards and plans: High-Speed 2go Metro for use only with local 4G coverage areas and High-Speed 2go Nationwide which allows traveling customers to use any Comcast 4G or Sprint 3G coverage area any where in the United States.
