Front Camera, Flash and Zoom for iPhone 4G
Ready for more iPhone 4G rumors? The latest is that a front-facing camera, flash and zoom are all included in the new spec.
The names of all three new features are found within the iPhone SDK 3.2 – with clear indications of Flash, FrontCamera and Zoom as programming references.
With luck, these features will make it to the final released version of the iPhone 4G, along with a decent camera. Or is that wishful thinking?
New iPhone TV Commercials – Clear Out For 4G iPhone?
Apple is busy running three new TV commercials throughout the US for the iPhone 3G.
Why advertise now? Well, it could be because the heads at Apple in Cupertino are looking to sell as many units of the current iPhone before introducing the new iPhone 4G – expected by most mobile industry observers to be sometime very soon.
Pure speculation? You bet! Could be true? Only time will tell…
Verizon 4G iPhone To Be Announced Next Week
The word is that Apple will announce a number of new products at a special invitation only event next Wednesday – including the iPhone 4G for Verizon and the iPhone OS 4.0.
The supposed details of the iPhone 4G are:
* Made for Verizon
* Will also support European GSM & HSPA standards
* Version that fully supports 4G phone services expected by June 2011
4G iPhone – April Release?
The web is teeming with rumors about the release date of the 4G iPhone. Take your pick between July, June, May or April all of which have been mentioned frequently as favored release dates.
Another aspect of the 4G iPhone that remains unclear is what the 4G part actually means. While 4G phone networks are now in place and will grow quickly this year – meaning an iPhone could run on a 4G network, the new iPhone will also be the fourth generation. So 4G could mean either. It’s the usual waiting game…

4G iPhone 5 Megapixel Camera
Those rumors about the iPhone 4G just won’t go away. The latest is that the iPhone 4G will come equipped with a 5 megapixel camera.
DigiTimes in Taiwan first published the idea the new iPhone would be launched at WWDC ‘10 with a high powered on phone camera. Maybe video calling with on the iPhone is just around the corner…
iPhone 4G Now Being Tested
It seems the developer of the iBart iPhone app (which tracks info on San Francisco’s public transportation system) has spotted usage stats from a mysterious ‘iPhone3,1′ – leading to speculation that Apple is currently testing a new version of the iPhone.
The current version of the iPhone identifies itself as ‘iPhone 2,1′. The most likely release date for the iPhone 4G is widely thought to be June or July of 2010.
iPhone 4G Less Than A Year Away
It looks almost certain that the Verizon iPhone will become a reality in late 2010. This will be a new type of iPhone, a so called “worldmode iPhone” because it will be able to work on more than mobile phone network.
Cross carrier compatibility will be provided by a new in-phone chip by Qualcomm. Given that Verizon and other networks are busy upgrading to 4G, that could mean a 4G iPhone less than a year away.
iPhone 4G Early 2010?
A regular source of 4G iPhone leaks, Chinaontrade, is proudly displaying new parts it claims are from the iPhone 4G.
This time we’re treated to images of a middleboard (that’s the bit between the screen and the motherboard). Chinaontrade have proved to be a reliable source in the past and the timing of the “leak” might indicate an early 2010 launch for the iPhone 4G.
