Brazil 4G Consultation
The telecommunications regulator in Brazil, Anatel, has opened a public consultation on new frequencies to be used for 4G mobile internet services.
Under discussion are the 2.5 – 2.6 Ghz band currently used to deliver pay TV services via MMDS, an over the air alternative to cable TV used in rural areas around the world. From 2015 the spectrum devoted to pay TV will be much reduced – allowing the introduction of 4G phone services in Brazil.
