Nashville 4G Is Coming
4G phone services are making their way to Nashville. Comcast, which is in the process of rebranding itself as Xfinity, is due to launch 4G in Nashville “soon”.
The mobile operator already has 4G running in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle and Portland, Oregon.
Clearwire and Sprint are also due to have Nashville launches in the next few months.
4G Seattle From Comcast
Comcast is now offering its 4G mobile wireless service High-Speed 2go to phone customers in Seattle and the surrounding area. The service is bundled with Comcasts web, phone and television plans.
Customers can choose from two 4G data cards and plans: High-Speed 2go Metro for use only with local 4G coverage areas and High-Speed 2go Nationwide which allows traveling customers to use any Comcast 4G or Sprint 3G coverage area any where in the United States.
Comcast 4G Chicago
Chicago now has Comcast 4G. As with the Sprint and Clearwire network services, Comcast is offering phone users a USB modem to use hook up notebooks and PCs to the Comcast 4G network.
Comcast says it hopes to win extra customers in Chicago by bundling a 4G mobile broadband connection with its residential service.
Comcast’s 4G is also available in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Portland, Oregon.
Clear, Comcast and Sprint 4G in New Cities
Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint have set out a timetable for extending their 4G WiMAX mobile phone services to more markets.
All three mobile phone operators will launch new high speed services in Philadelphia over the coming weeks. Chicago is slated for a 4G launch in November with Seattle / Tacoma to follow in December.
Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint will operate service under their own brands.
Comcast adds Houston to 4G list
US mobile provider Comcast will create a new 4G high speed mobile internet service for Houston, Texas next year. Comcast has just launched a 4G network in Portland, with other US cities – including Atlanta, Chicago, and Philadelphia – following soon.
The initial offering will be an all data network – no voice. Data cards will be available free with a one year contract or for $99 for customers who prefer to pay on a monthly basis.
The new service will automatically switch between 3G and 4G networks when 4G is not available.
Customers will be able to choose between a fixed data usage plan of 5GB per month or an unlimited data plan for a higher subscription charge.
