Clearwire 4G in Austin, San Antonio & North Texas
Clear 4G launches today in Austin, San Antonio and North Texas. The Clear 4G coverage area should total around 1,300 square miles and include 3.6 million potential mobile phone customers.
The 4G service area includes Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties and according to the Clear 4G press release also extends north to McKinney and Denton, east to Rockwall, west to Fort Worth and south to Mansfield, Burleson, Arlington and Duncanville.
By the end of the year Clearwire plans to have eleven 4G phone markets in Texas and a further twenty five coverage areas across the US offering 4G.
Time Warner – 4G in Dallas from December 1
Time Warner Cable will officially launch its new Dallas 4G phone network on December 1.
The first mobile plan available will be Road Runner Mobile – offering mobile broadband access from $44.99 per month with speeds of up to 6 Mbps.
Time Warner Cable will launch Road Runner Mobile in San Antonio and Austin in early 2010. Other soon to be activated 4G coverage areas include Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro in North Carolina and Honolulu and Maui.
Dallas 4G
Time Warner is now providing a 4G phone service using WiMAX technology for Dallas, Texas.
Glenn Britt, Time Warner’s Cable Chief Executive Officer, said the new 4G network felt, “very promising” and added that Time Warner hopes to launch 4G in North and South Carolina soon.
Dallas 4G “coming” says Time Warner Cable
Although the exact launch date remains unannounced, Time Warner Cable has confirmed it will launch a 4G phone service for the greater Dallas before the end of this year. The service will be available in Dallas, Collin counties and parts of Denton and Tarrant counties. Fort Worth will not be covered.
TWC also plans to offer a 4G service in three other US markets later this year including Charlotte, North Carolina.
