New 4G Phone From Sprint – Samsung Galaxy S Pro

Ahead of a planned press event by Samsung Mobile on June 29, stories have appeared which seem to confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S Pro will be the next 4G phone from Sprint.

The Samsung Galaxy S Pro features a full QWERTY keyboard and 5 megapixel camera – the other specs of the new phone are still unknown.

Clearwire have also announced that they will start selling a new Samsung 4G phone later this year, which could also turn out to be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro.

MetroPCS 4G Network Announced

Prepaid mobile carrier MetroPCS has confirmed it will launch its 4G phone network in the second half of this year.

While there’s been no word yet on the cities where 4G will be launched first, some details of the first MetroPCS 4G phone are known.

MetroPCS is partnering with Samsung and the first 4G phone will be the Samsung SCH-r900 – full details on the phone are expected to be released soon.

Samsung Line Up 4G Netbooks

Samsung has been proving that the Mobile World Congress isn’t just about 4G smartphones. It’s been showing off a number of shiny new 4G netbooks including the much talked about Samsung N510.

The netbook contains built in LTE 4G network support making it one of the first 4g nebooks. Other specs include a 1366 x 768 resolution screen, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB harddrive.

Samsung plans to release other 4G netbooks later this year including the N210, N220 and NB30.

Samsung Mondi 4G Phone Now Available in Dallas / Fort Worth

Clearwire is now selling the Samsung Mondi 4G phone in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, coinciding with its launch of 4G WiMAX in that market.

The Samsung Mondi is a WiMAX mobile internet device with a 4.3 inch touchscreen that comes with a slide out qwerty keyboard as well as access to emails and web content, video and multimedia content and business apps.

The future looks bright for the Samsung Mondi – Clearwire has hinted it’ll be launched in other markets like Boston and Washington DC and it’ll be available to Time Warner Cable mobile customers in the next few months.

Samsung Shows Off First 4G WiMAX Roaming Service

Mobile phone manufacturer Samsung and VMAX Telecom, a 4G WiMAX operator in Taiwan, have announced a successful demonstration of the first mobile WiMAX roaming service.

The demo took place at the Broadband Taiwan conference using a Samsung Mondi registered on the Clearwire Mobile WiMAX service in the US but accessed through the VMAX 4G phone service in Taiwan.

Roaming 4G services mean it’ll be easier to use your mobile phone abroad.

Samsung 4G USB Modem Coming

The world’s number one mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung, says it’s signed a deal to supply fourth generation phone technology to TeliaSonera, the largest mobile company in Northern Europe. The company will make 4G USB data modems.

TeliaSonera is expected to commercially launch it’s 4G phone plans next year in Sweden and Norway.

Android 4G Phone?

Sprint has confirmed plans to sell a 4G smartphone next year and there’s speculation in the wireless industry that it could be a 4G Android phone.

The only confirmed details coming from Sprint are that the new smartphone will be dual 3G / 4G and WiMAX based. Talks are apparently ongoing with the handset manufacturer – but next month Sprint is hosting a mobile developer conference featuring the Android mobile platform. And one of the other participants, Samsung, has recently developed its first Android phone.

“Best of 4G” for Samsung Mondi

Samsung has just picked up the “Best of 4G Award” from xchange magazine at the 4G World conference for the Samsung Mondi.

Mike Saxby of xchange magazine said, “xchange is pleased to honor Samsung Mobile’s contributions to the development and advancement of 4G technology and services. The growth in the 4G arena has been incredible, as shown by Samsung Mobile’s achievement.”

The Samsung Mondi is a hybrid 3G / 4G mobile device that can work on 3G phone networks and 4G mobile WiMAX networks when available.
