New 4G Phone From Sprint – Samsung Galaxy S Pro

Ahead of a planned press event by Samsung Mobile on June 29, stories have appeared which seem to confirm that the Samsung Galaxy S Pro will be the next 4G phone from Sprint.

The Samsung Galaxy S Pro features a full QWERTY keyboard and 5 megapixel camera – the other specs of the new phone are still unknown.

Clearwire have also announced that they will start selling a new Samsung 4G phone later this year, which could also turn out to be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro.

Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G Phone Has Build Problems

Reports are starting to surface on mobile phone forums and blogs of problems with the recently launched Sprint HTC EVO 4G phone.

A number of EVO users have reported that the glass touchscreen is coming away from the rest of the device causing light leakage and a possible problem with dust entering the HTC EVO 4G phone – not good.

Some users have arranged an exchange for when the EVO is back in stock at Sprint. Although there has been no official comment from Sprint or HTC it’s thought the issues may be caused by a problem with the glue.

Sprint Overdrive – New Firmware Upgrade

Sprint have fixed a number of important issues with the Overdrive with the release of a new firmware upgrade.

Version 2.06.06 of the software brings enhancements and fixes to WiFi and 3G / 4G network connections. Other improvements in the latest Sprint Overdrive firmware update include an increase in battery life of 10% and a much faster boot-up time – it’s up to now twenty seconds faster.

The Overdrive can also now be switched between 3G and 4G networks without a reboot.

Sprint Sells Out of HTC EVO 4G Phones

One of the most sought after mobile phones in years, the HTC EVO 4G, has sold out in only a few days.

The Sprint online store is currently displaying the message, “Sorry, this device is so hot we can’t keep it on our virtual shelves” when customers visit the EVO 4G page. The phones are also sold out in Sprint retail stores.

The initial stock of the HTC EVO 4G help by Sprint has been estimated at between 200,000 and 300,000.

Buy the EVO with a Sprint two year phone contract and you can get the HTC EVO 4G for $199.99. Excepting any special offers that might appear from stores like Radio Shack, Walmart or Best Buy that’s about the best price you’re going to find. Existing Sprint customers who just want to upgrade their phone will pay $299.99.

On the other hand, if you want to get your hands on one of those HTC EVO 4G phones without being tied in to a two year phone contract with Sprint the cost is $549.99.

Washington 4G From Sprint & Clearwire

Washington D.C. phone users can now enjoy 4G coverage from Sprint and Clearwire.

The new coverage area brings Sprint & Clear 4G phone services to around one million people.

Clearwire has a special offer available with Clear 4G – new customers can grab a $50 service credit and enjoy phone plans from as low as $15 per month for the first two months of their plan.

Kansas City Gets Sprint 4G

Mobile phone users in Kansas City can now enjoy Sprint 4G phones services as the city becomes one of 33 other markets where Sprint has launched 4G.

The Kansas 4G coverage takes in Kansas City, Shawnee, Overland Park, Lee’s Summit, Independence and the Northland. Sprint says more cellphone towers will be converted to operate 4G services throughout the summer – giving extended coverage through the rest of the market.

Phone users can use the new service with either a data modem or the new HTC EVO 4G phone.

Qik Confirms Free Video Calls for HTC EVO 4G Phone

Qik has confirmed its app for making free video chat calls will continue to be free on the Sprint HTC EVO 4G phone when it’s released this week.

Some mobile phone sites had suggested a $4.99 monthly fee would be needed to use the standard video service but Qik has clarified that the standard service will remain free.

However, Qik has made it clear they will be charging for an “advanced premium service”. Details of features and subscription charges won’t be announced until Sprint launches the new 4G phone.
