Sprint Overdrive – New Firmware Upgrade
Sprint have fixed a number of important issues with the Overdrive with the release of a new firmware upgrade.
Version 2.06.06 of the software brings enhancements and fixes to WiFi and 3G / 4G network connections. Other improvements in the latest Sprint Overdrive firmware update include an increase in battery life of 10% and a much faster boot-up time – it’s up to now twenty seconds faster.
The Overdrive can also now be switched between 3G and 4G networks without a reboot.
Sprint 4G Overdrive – Firmware Update
Another firmware update (1.07) has been released by Sprint for the Sprint Overdrive. The update promises to bring:
* Better Wi-Fi usage and throughput, especially when used with devices with a power save mode like the iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows XP.
* More stable downloads over 3G connections.
* Fixes to the Wi-Fi driver to prevent freezing & crashing.
Sprint 4G Firmware Update for Overdrive
Sprint 4G have announced a firmware update for the Overdrive 4G modem. The new update (FW 1.06) improves the modem’s performance in these areas:
* Better 4G signal acquisition
* Improved battery status indicator
* Addresses inability to browse the Internet when connected to 4G
That last point seems pretty crucial :-) The Overdrive firmware update can be downloaded from Sprint 4G.
Sprint 4G Overdrive 4G Router – Now Available
As predicted earlier in the week by 4G Phones :-) Sprint has confirmed the release of its new Overdrive Mobile Hotspot 4G router.
The new device connects to the Sprint 4G WiMAX service and can network the mobile internet connection to five other devices. The Sprint Overdrive 4G router costs $100 after a $50 mail rebate and is available for $60 monthly.
