Sprint 4G Windows WiMAX Phone
Sprint 4G looks set to deliver on its promise earlier this year of a 4G WiMAX phone in 2010.
The phone division of both Sprint and mobile phone company LG have sent invitations to an event at next months CES trade show at which it’s thought they’ll announce a new smartphone that runs Windows Mobile and can connect to 4G WiMAX networks.
No further details are available for the Sprint / LG 4G phone, so we’ll have to wait until CES on January 6 to find out more.
4G Chips from Qualcomm
Mobile phone chip maker Qualcomm has announced it’s now providing a new family of wireless chipsets (MSM7x30) that combine 3G and 4G technology to help phone carriers move to 4G phone networks.
Among the first companies to test the new technology are LG Electronics, Sierra Wireless and ZTE. Qualcomm expects the new chips to be available in commercial products by mid 2010. Android, Brew, Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems will all be supported.
